THE INDEPENDENT WORK OF PUPILS AS THE PRINCIPLE OF ORGANIZATION OF THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES STYDY

The article deals with the important problem of present-day methods of teaching foreign languages that is independent work of pupils. We analyze the problems connected with teaching pupils skills of independent work and contemporary role of the teacher in the process of study. The independent work of the pupils demands from the teacher to show the pupils how to master foreign languages independently. The article considers the main methods used by the teacher in the education process to develop the pupils activity and their independent work. The formation of independent work skills includes not only techniques of studying but the methods of selfcontrol. The article studies the metacognitive strategies used by the pupils in the process of foreign languages study, the role of the European portfolio in increasing the pupils self-appraisal.
