MOTIVATION OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS’ FACULTY TO PHYSICAL EXERCISE (WITH VOLLEYBALL AS AN EXAMPLE)

The article analyzes academic literature on the object of research, identifies methodology and theoretical background of research into motivation in sport and physical culture. The author considers the data of motivation to do sports among different categories of population, collected by different researchers. The article identifies the factors preventing people from doing exercise. The author singles out and ranges the motives to do sports among faculty of higher educational establishments with additional focus on gender peculiarities. For instance, the author finds out that both men and women are primarily motivated by the factors of emotional relaxation and relieving a stress, and also by change of environment and spending leisure time, informal communication. It is identified that the factors of improving functioning of cardiovascular system, fitness and losing weight are less important and take lower positions in the range. The author explains the distribution of motives in the range by the specific features of teachers’ labour.
