Design methodology of modern educational standards in the tourism sector should be based on the general principles of the competence approach. The use of modular programs based on competences in the continuing professional education (CPE) is conditioned by the requirements of the integration processes of higher education around the world. Modules are complete units of knowledge and skills, and include all the necessary educational components. The integrative-modular approach views the training material within a module as a structural and organizational unit based on inter-subject integration. The basic integrative terms of a modular program are introduced: «project-based», «innovative», «student-centered». The introduction of the integrative concepts to the educational process will ensure a close penetration of theoretical and action-oriented training in tourism, as well as reconcile personal and professional goals and values, and make the educational process consistent.
