This article analyzes the concept of academic staff development of higher education institutions on the basis of the ideas of corporate education and network approach. The article reveals the purpose of academic staff development on the basis of the above ideas – development and improvement of academic staff corporate culture as a set of beliefs, attitudes, norms of conduct and a set of shared values created by the organization solving issues of internal and external obstacles to increase academic staff effective mastering of innovative knowledge and skills for the preparation of competitive specialists in the labour market; establishing an effective communication with education, science, industry and business institutions to enhance the innovative component of this process. The article describes the principles realizing the ideas of corporate education and network approach. The article presents the basic levels and anticipated results of academic staff development.
