PROCEDURES OF RUNNING CONTESTS IN CHEMISTRY AT A TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The article discusses the experience in conducting student contests at the technical University. The aim of the event is the development of cognitive interest and intellectual abilities of students. It is shown that the contests contribute to scientific outlook formation and development of students’ needs continuously and deliberately expand and deepen their knowledge. The features of the contest organization for students of the first course are discussed. The first year of studying at a technical university is very difficult for a student and contests become the logical outcome of the adaptation process for a student in university. The methodology of ticket contents which takes into account the specific knowledge and skills of a freshmen is validated. The results of the contests are presented and summarized. It is concluded that the purpose of the event can be regarded as achieved, if the result of the ranking in terms of knowledge satisfies strong and motivates more weak students for further training. Participation in contests helps students to develop their potential, teaches them to work independently, promotes the development of creative and original thinking. The participants showed themselves at a higher level, taking prize-winning places in regional and all-Russian contests.
