The theoretical analyses of the term “management” is offered. The conducted researched showed that the intention to comprehend the entire pedagogical process from the point of the view of the science, to make it severely scientific is growing in the pedagogical science and practices. The article covers different approaches to defining the term “management”. The research of existing definitions put forward such terms as “management”, management policy, pedagogical management, conducting the organization, professional activity, education for special purposes, organizational culture. The essential characteristics of such terms are important for disclosing the research problem. During the analyses and systematizing the research material the author notices the term “management” as integral characteristic which defines director’s ability to rule, in turn it includes planning, organization, control, regulation, result.
