The article is devoted to the developing of cognitive activity at schoolchildren in the process of distant education. It presents the different approaches to the definition of «cognitive activity» (GI Shchukin, TI Shamova, AV Hutorskoy), «distant education» (AV Hutorskoy, ES Polat) explains the specificity of cognitive activity of schoolchildren of 5-9 classes in the process of distant education, which is regarded as an integral concept with its own structure. The article describes the structural components of cognitive activity in the process of distant education: motivational, orientational, content-organizational, emotional and evaluative components. In the article there is the description of methods, forms, means of distance education by means of modern information and communication the Internet of technologies. The article presents various approaches to the organization of the educational process in the process of distant education directed at the development of cognitive activity of schoolchildren of 5-9 classes.
