In this article, the problem of the effectiveness of the journalists’ training to work in a multicultural environment - the North Caucasus region as well as the whole of Russia - is analyzed. The authors purposefully suggest the building up not only of students’ speech, but also cultural competence, because detailed preparation will make the work of journalists, in difficult conditions, more effective, thereby reducing tension in the region and in the country.
