Customary rules of behavior transmitted from generation to generation orally - one of the oldest representations of the content of the concept of «tradition». Connection of past and present; norms of behavior and consciousness, which honed by centuries; Institute of human communication - not a complete list of what is usually included in the tradition of the «national», «national», «cultural». In the article the school tradition as a factor of effective development of patriotism students. That tradition is the basis for the formation of the valuable relationship of the child to the world and to himself. In school, children are not only knowledge, but also learn to live in an appropriate socio-cultural and economic environment. The article presents the works of Emile Durkheim, Comte, F. et al Tennis scholars who wrote about the traditions in the development of society, their social role. Consider the point of view of Marx, who noted that there is a juxtaposition of the two theoretical positions , «tradition» and «intelligence». The author considers the school tradition on an example of secondary school № 4 Ramenskoye, Moscow region.
