The article offers the analysis of the pedagogical terms of professional abilities development through the organization of educational research activity of future teachers at a pedagogical college. The analysis of the theoretical and methodological issues is conducted on the basis of professional abilities development. The quality of the organization of educational-research activity is the major condition of development of professional abilities of a teacher trainee. In the article the author conducted the analysis of the existing model of professional abilities development at a pedagogical college. The principles of its functioning, forms and terms of organization are considered to be of great importance. The main constituencies of professional skills’ development are the organization of the professionally oriented research activity, control and monitoring of research activity of the students, the complex of study and research materials provided. Special attention is paid to the issue of project skills’ development of teacher trainees as the major condition of the students’ professional development.
