The subject of this article is the methodology of teaching text comprehensionin the original foreign language and written interpretation based on reading. The author describes the main provisions of teaching reading with full awareness: criteria for the selection of the original texts are put forward that correspond the individual and age-spesific characteristics of students in order to further apply these texts in the process of teaching full comprehension with elements of written interpretation. Then, peculiarities of teaching full comprehension of original texts are analysedand specified, the necessity of teaching written interpretation based on reading is proved, comprehension difficulties of original texts in the foreign language are identified. On the ground of the existing concepts of language and cultural and linguistic identity the author develops its fundamental characteristics. Through the results of experimental teaching the effectiveness of the proposed method for teaching reading original texts in the foreign language is proved.
