PRE-EXPERIMENTAL CUT TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING TO READ ORIGINAL NON-FICTION TEXTS

The subject of this article is the pre-experimental cut technology. The author justifies the necessity of its application at an early stage of experimental work. The technology in question is illustrated by the example of teaching to read original non-fiction texts. Pre-experimental cut involved a series of tasks. Students’ works were subjected to analysis on quantitative and qualitative criteria. Students’ background knowledge, knowledge of the cultural context, the amount of grammatically correct transformed sentences, the quantity of adequately understood lexical units were determined. A formula developed by the author and mathematical calculations were used to count the results. Two groups (experimental and control) participated in the pre-experimental cut for a more efficient calculation of the results. These results have shown the weaknesses of the students and the difficulties which must be overcome in the process of teaching to read original non-fiction texts.
