ANNA NIKOLAEVNA ESIPOVA”S TRADITIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF CONTEMPORARY MUSICAL PEDAGOGY

The name of Anna Nikolaevna Esipova, an adept of St.Petersburg piano school, ranks highamong the names of many celebrated musicians,who made the principles of Russian musical execution and pedagogy world renowned. Her pianism was formed thanks to and under the influence of her teacher, Theador Leshetitskii, a famous pianist and teacher. Esipova, a brilliant pianist,was well known in Russia, Europe and the USA: her technique and perfect sound execution amazed the audience. Extraordinary power and energy, inspiration and poetic interpretation, sense of propotion and masterly completion of every execution secured her leading position among such pianists of standing reputation as G. Bulov, K. Shuman, S. Menter, I. Paderevskii. She devoted 20 years to piano pedagogy in St.Petersburg conservatory. Her teaching principles were based on an individual approach to a student, technical perfection, freedom of performance, high standards set to sound execution as a way of creating a musical image.
