FORMATION CROSSCULTURAL COMPETENCE: ESSENCE, PROBLEMS, EXPERIENCE

The article deals with the problem of forming cross-cultural competence of future English teachers. The special role of the formation of this competence in the context of modern requirements for foreign language education is noted. Essential characteristic of cross-cultural competence is disclosed, the structure of its components from the position of the ideal outcome - the dialogue of cultures is presented. The problems of formation of cross-cultural competence in the domestic foreign language education are given. The possibility of introducing of motivational component in the structure of cross-cultural competence is proved. Emphasis on the personal factor is stressed. The necessity of studying the native culture as a psychological basis for the formation of cross-cultural competence is put. The data of the experimental work on the development and implementation of the course “Culture of Russia in English” are given. The methods of work allowing to determine its effectiveness are described. The priority of interactive methods is given, the feasibility of using an interpretive method and the project methodology are confirmed.
