INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNICATION AS A MEANS OF CROSS-CULTURAL COMPETENCIES’ FORMATION OF FUTURE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS

The problem of identifying opportunities of interdisciplinary connections for creating a cross-cultural competence of future teachers of foreign languages is discussed. It is noted that the function of the teacher of a foreign language is significantly different from that which he performed several decades ago due to changes in the global space in general and educational space in particular. The concept of cross-cultural competence on the basis of the competence approach is revealed. The modern interpretation of the understanding of cross-cultural competence in the context of the interpretation of culture as a category of having a universal character is presented. The key importance of the term “interaction” is underlined. The need to implement interdisciplinary connections in foreign language education is designated. The causes of low efficiency of interdisciplinary connections in high school are discovered. It is proved that interdisciplinary communication is the most effective means of creating a cross-cultural competence of future foreign languages teachers. The examples of projects are given that show the possibility of actualizing interdisciplinary connections for creating a cross-cultural competence.
