The paper discusses the problem of infusing the ideas of multiculturalism into the U.S. gifted education curriculum. The article focuses on the insightful analysis of the works of contemporary American researchers and educators on multicultural gifted education of minority students. The article summarizes a series of approaches to teaching gifted students of color and provides the conditions to determine a successful infusion of gifted and multicultural education. Having reviewed the fundamental principles of building a multicultural secondary school curriculum in the U.S., the authors make an insight into a four-level Multicultural gifted education framework. The authors argue that putting the conceptual ‘the higher’ level approaches to use in the gifted programs is likely to promote students’ learning independence and social action. In conclusion the authors emphasize the possibility of transferring best American practices on multicultural gifted education into Russian secondary schools.
