Modernization of continuing professional education (CPE) in the tourism sector should be based on the systematization of requirements of potential customers to the content of competencies of modern personnel in tourist industry. During a study on «Perceptions of the quality of tourist services» 146 interviews were conducted with people who made use of tourist organizations in the last two years (2011-2012years). The results showed that the overall level of satisfaction of tourists is high. Among the key factors influencing the perception of service quality there is the competence of the staff. It is also found that there is no consumer loyalty to a single tourist organization. This suggests that travel organizations should have the employees who are able to use strategies of individual interaction with consumers, and this experience can only be obtained by taking continuing professional education (CPE).
