ACTIVE METHODS TO INCREASE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCY OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE CHOSEN FIELD OF STUDY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE COURSE «BASIC SAFETY»)

The article introduces approaches to development of Course Syllabus «BASIC SAFETY” for international students of all specialties seeking for a Bachelor’s Degree at TPU. The author presents her own experience of the course implementation describing the application of active educational methods at practical classes. Besides, the specification of “new” methods to develop universal and professional competencies such as heuristic discussion, situation role-play, creative problem-oriented autonomous work is given. Course Syllabus is made in accordance with requirements of competency building approach. Two groups of competencies: universal (cultural) and general professional are introduced in the article. Subsitution of obsolete “industrial” educational methods by ”new” active approaches will improve the level of language and form necessary competencies of international students while studying general professional course “Basic safety”. These approaches satisfy the requirements of the latest State Educational Standard for international students seeking for a Bachelor’s Degree.
