CIVIL AND ETHNIC IDENTITY OF A PERSON: THE PROBLEM OF INTERRELATION AND INTERDEPENDENCY

Article is devoted to a problem of interrelation and interdependence of civil and ethnic identities of a person. The definitions given by different researchers are given, specific features of understanding of essence of ethnic and civil identities are marked out, possible opposition of ethnic and civil in a personality is analyzed, structural components and the demands made to results of formation of civil identity to the personality are compared. The conclusion is drawn that ethnic identity can participate in processes of formation of civil identity and serve as a resource for integration of the multiethnic country, in certain cases ethnic identity can be considered as a part of civil identity, and sometimes, within approach to the nation as a certain stage of development of an ethnic community, under certain conditions national (ethnic) identity and national (civil) identity can become if aren’t identical, than nearby.
