In this paper, the analysis of the educational situation in the early XIXth century in the development of vocational education in Russia is carried out, and also the impact of private initiative in the development of vocational education in Russia is considered, the key trends from the point of view of recent research are analyzed, the role of the government policy in the field of support and opening of professional schools is examined, the nature and content of training in vocational schools at various levels is studied , the historical and educational tour of the need to introduce general education and special items, in particular – the foreign languages into the curriculum is given.
