The present article deals with the questions of the professional identity of youth within the student’s self-government in specialized higher education institution (Fachhochschule) in Germany. This article describes the specialization of higher education institution (Fachhochschule) in Germany. The principal activities of the student’s self-government in Germany and its structure are presented. It is proved that the student’s self-government creates the necessary conditions for the formation of personal competencies of future specialists. The principles of the student’s self-government as a factor of the professional identity of youth are defined. These include the principles of goal-setting, polycentric, autonomy, focus on the problems, multicultural, integration, communicative. The authors point out that the practice of youth participation in the student’s self-government helps not only to take the mastery of the basics of management, but at the same time and personal competencies. The relationship of socialization and the professional identity of students within the student’s self-government in Germany is showed.
