TO THE QUESTION ABOUT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE STRATEGY OF PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION «RAISING THE PRESTIGE OF WORKING PROFESSIONS»

«Raising the prestige of working professions» currently regarded as the leading direction of professional orientation of youth in the Russian Federation. This article summarizes the data psycho-pedagogical researchers showing the negative impact of the strategy «raising the prestige of the professions» on the process of professional self-determination of students. Focused on support of professional choice, while ignoring the problem of formation of professional orientation competencies, reduces the overall effectiveness of career guidance. Early professional self-determination of adolescents, taking place under the pressure of the external environment, enhances the crisis nature of such determination. Focus on prestige when choosing a career is typical for adolescents with low levels of autonomy and responsibility, inadequate self-esteem. Their professional choice based on external motives, different instability. and immaturity. This requires professional colleges special remedial work directed on maintenance of professional self-determination of these students.
